After School Matters

Through the design process After school Matters, an urban educational program that caters to the needs of inner city kids to challenge, teach and infuse new techniques of developing great educational outcomes. I resently visited a final day presentation in the Logan Square Neighborhood where students meet on a weekly bases and work on project based learning, research based feild trips and hands on projects under the management of architects and designers fom the industry. This is a fantastic learning plato because these groups make for great small learning communities as well it could bring about good community collaboration. In this particular video they have given the students a challenge to design a resting area located in a community garden. Nia was a student from the south side of chicago who traveled to Logan everyweek in order to participate in this program.
